New Arrivals from Podere Orto, Lazio
We have just received an allocation of Simona and Giuliano’s wonderful wines, from the garden of Podere Orto. Resting on the hills of Lazio, on the cusp of Umbria and Tuscany, where they built their guesthouse and vineyard from scratch just over 10 years ago.
When hearing the story of how they ended up here, it seems as if it was fate. Simona explains that this place chose them.
Having everything they thought they could of ever wanted and needed in Rome, they knew something wasn’t right and went in search of a different kind of life. The passion present at Podere Orto is evidence that they made the right decision.
We have incredibly limited quantities of their 2015 and 2016 Rosso and their 2017 Amai Rosato remaining, available alongside their recently released vintage of Amai 2019 and Rosso 2018. Wonderfully delicate wines, with a perfect tension. Created spontaneously, in reaction to the seasons and adapting year on year.
The unique climate and high altitude means warm days and cold nights creating wines with great finesse and acidity. Giuliano planted the vines himself with the utmost attention to the direction of each variety in relation to the sun. His north facing whites are incredibly fresh and his west facing reds are deeply thoughtful. Amai blends the two for a light yet complex Rosato.
For this week only we are offering a vertical case of 6 of their wines, across vintages for 20% off the individual bottle price, strictly while stocks last.
